This medication is used for the induction of ovulation in anovulatory women. Serophene® increases the production and release of luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone. Serophene® is a tablet given orally, usually once daily for 5 days beginning on or around the 5th day of the menstrual cycle. If ovulation has not occurred after the 1st course of treatment, doses can be increased to 100mg once daily for 5 days.
Common side effects of Serophene® include headaches, dizziness, flushing, and abnormal uterine bleeding. Some of the less common side effects are enlargement of the ovaries, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, ovarian cysts, and thromboembolic events.
Take tablets exactly as your physician prescribed, on the recommended days he prescribes it for. Patients with abnormal liver function should not use Serophene®. Store tablets at room temperature and protected from moisture.
