Induction of ovulation and pregnancy in infertile women who do not ovulate regularly, and who have been pretreated with human menotropins.
Administered by intramuscular injection often in the upper buttocks or thigh. If administering in the buttocks, it may be helpful to have a second person administer the injection. Dissolve the powder with 1 ml of sterile normal saline for injection. Aim the solution towards the side of the vial and not directly into the powder. Gently rotate between your hands to mix. Do not shake the vial. Inject immediately using 3ml 25G 1 ½ inch needled syringe (#309582).
Headache, irritability, restlessness, depression, fatigue, edema, enlargement of the breasts, pain at the site of injection, and ovarian enlargement. This medication may cause fluid retention and should be used with caution in patients with heart or kidney disease, epilepsy, migraine, or asthma. Dry powder product may be stored at room temperature below 77° F (25° C). After reconstitution, refrigerate at 36-46° F (2-8° C) and use within 60 days.
