Gonal-F® is indicated for the induction of ovulation in female patients undergoing assisted reproductive therapies. Gonal-F® is effective for producing multiple follicles and promoting oocyte development and maturation.
Gonal-F® is administered during the follicular phase until adequate follicular development is achieved. The 1200IU multi-dose vial should be reconstituted with the included pre-filled syringe containing 2mL sterile diluent resulting in 600IU/mL solution concentration. Patients should use the included dosing syringes calibrated in FSH units to draw up the prescribed dose of Gonal-F® from the vial.
Common adverse effects associated with Gonal-F® include abdominal pain, headache, nausea, and upper respiratory infections. Rare but severe side effects reported with use include thromboembolism, acute respiratory distress syndrome, ovarian enlargement, and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. The diagnosis of infertility cause should be considered before initiating therapy with Gonal-F® The Gonal-F® Multidose kit can be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Following reconstitution, the multi-dose vial should be stored in the refrigerator and is stable for 28 days.
