Follistim® is a preparation of human follicle-stimulating hormone. It in indicated for the development of multiple follicles in ovulatory patients participating in assisted reproductive technologies. Follistim® is also used for induction of ovulation and pregnancy in patients who do not ovulated naturally.
Dissolve the contents of one or more ampules in ½-1ml of sterile saline using a filter needle attached to a 3ml syringe. Immediately administer subcutaneously using a 3ml 26G 5/8 inch needled syringe (#309587). The drug can be administered near the navel or on the upper thigh. Mild to moderate ovarian enlargement, abdominal pain, allergic reaction, gastrointestinal symptoms, pain, rash, swelling at injection site and headaches have been reported. Close monitoring by blood work and ultrasound is needed to minimize the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and multiple births May be stored refrigerated or at room temperature (2-25° C / 36-77° F). Protect from light. Use immediately after reconstitution. Discard unused material.
